Brian Adams (1945-2016), Curator of Bovey Pottery Museum
It is with sorrow that we must announce that Brian Adam’s, author and curator of Bovey Pottery Museum at House of Marbles in Devon, England, has passed away. Brian studied ceramics for most of his adult life, was one of this country’s leading restorers of antique ceramics and wrote many books and papers. His last paper -“Porcelain Pioneers, The Cookworthy Chimera” – was a major work on the history of English Porcelain.
He also built and curated the pottery museum at House of Marbles from the start and as a result the present collection on site at the museum is comprehensive. A trust has been formed to preserve and develop the museum and to ensure that its contents are preserved for future generations. Brian has gone, but we will make sure his work is continued.
