Malachite stone is a mineral that is based on copper carbonate. It’s first use was as an ore of copper and was mined purely as a source of the metal. The green colour comes from the copper oxidising in the air because the mineral forms close to the surface of the Earth. It is generally found in caverns and caves where the mineral has formed into a stalactite or coated the surface of the ground. They were first found in Egypt and Israel around 4000 BC. It has a beautiful, rich, colour and is easily spotted thanks to the instantly recognisable swirls of lighter green found within the stones. It’s almost reminiscent of marble swirls, but can also be found in concentric circles and other flowing shapes. These beautiful green stones are minerals that form not too far from the Earth’s surface.

Malachite is considered a protection stone and is said to absorb negative, toxic and pollutant energies from around you and from within you.
